To help choose which style would work best for you, you want to think about what your goals are for this celebration, is It to encourage guests to be social? is it to congratulate a specific person? or maybe it is to present?
Whatever the occasion, we have put together all the details of a stand-up event vs a sit-down event.
Sit Down
A sit-down lunch or dinner is an ideal intimate event where guests can celebrate over an exquisite meal and drinks.
If you are looking at conducting formalities, such as speeches or award presentations, then a sit-down is the best option. You can control when everyone’s seated and follow a smooth-running schedule.
At Left Bank Melbourne, we can host sit-down events in three of our spaces, including our Terrace, Main restaurant & Private Dining Room.
Stand up
Also known as a cocktail style, for a less formal event where your main priorities are networking and socializing, a stand-up event works best. You can provide your guests with ample drinks, mingling opportunities, and even a DJ for dancing. Not to mention, cocktail events are usually much more cocktail effective and can host more people than a sit-down event.
Cocktail-style events usually have roaming canapes or food stations, this does provide a lot more flexibility with food, but unlike a sit-down event, it doesn’t ensure everyone is going to be 100% fed.
