The term Galantines Day to no surprise originated from the mouth of a woman, but the best part is that it was a fictional character from Parks and Recreation, Leslie Knope. As a character, she is known for her ambition to become the first female president, and we love that.
“Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast style,” Leslie says in the episode.
“Ladies celebrating ladies.”
From here, women have taken this and run. February 13th has officially unofficially become Galantines Day. I mean we can’t lie, we love dressing up, receiving flowers, and getting male attention... but let’s leave that for the 14th . The day before is quite literally the day to leave your mans at home (if you have one) for a little lady love day, in Leslie’s words ‘breakfast style’.
So, are you ready to celebrate the girls? Brunch with us!
